Was it brown, or red? I have been in the auto-industry for over 20 years. Sales, service, parts. (Still ASE certified for parts)
Red coolant was first used by Toyota and GM, and is now very common. It’s a special blend for aluminum radiators. It’s called DEXCOOL. And you can get paid to drive your car as a billboard. And get paid to drive for free.
There was a time that only it could be used in these cars.
Now there are many universal formulas out there than can be used in both.
If it was BROWN, it could be rust..but more than likely indicates a blown head gasket.

Yo dude, what we are looking for is information such as how to test drive a car. How to check for break pressure, wheel alignment, etc. Today a dealer told me the brown stuff in the overflow tank was not rust but a red coolant that foreign cars use. I still think it was rust, but I could be wrong.

if you truly want to learn every aspect of the retail auto industry go to “dont fear the dealer” for 30 bucks they teach you just as much as any person in auto sales, or probably more! by far the best investment i’ve ever made!
